GAIA REPOSSI

As Artistic Director and the only daughter of Alberto Repossi, Gaia Repossi is responsible for developing collections for the storied house founded by her great grandfather. In 2007, she olso launched the Czarina collection, signed by Ere by Repossi.The Byzantine-inspired collection was developed by Gaia Repossi and her childhood friend Eugenie Niarchos. Niarchos and Repossi use four different golds and rose-cut diamonds to make earrings, rings, pendants, and cuffs.

She just launched  her newest jewelry line for Barneys New York, with a big party at  The Jane Hotel in New York.

Gaia studied at the University of Sorbonne: anthropology, art history, and archaeology and she took a lot of inspiration from that.

“I was studying anthropology—ethnic similarities in between the civilizations.

Even in those classes, jewelry became very important.

Sculpture, too.When I go to shows, they have patterns, it’s the same.

[But you also need] the family and the background that knows how it do it in a very refined way,

because there’s no point to making a sculpture [for jewelry]—it has to be wearable and refined,

not a heavy object you don’t know what to do with.”

The Repossis are also very closly linked to royal family of Monaco, Repossi was the official supplier of jewelry to HSH Prince Rainieri since 1994.

She made a collaboration with her good friend Alexander Wang with jewelry in yellow burnt gold : “En or Jaune”.

Last gift that Princess Diana received was a ring from Repossi.

It was claimed that Dodi Al-Fayedìs last gift for the princess was an engagement ring from a collection called ‘Tell Me Yes’ ,Diana had chosen the ring after she spotted it in a Repossi jeweller’s window in Monte Carlo, the ring was then sent to Repossi in Paris, just across the Place Vendome from the Paris Ritz Hotel where Diana and Dodi were dining on their final evening in Paris. Diana’s ring was the last one ever made, as the Repossi family decided to remove the design from their jewellery catalogue after Diana’s death.

Gaia Repossi has partnered olso with French brand Zadig & Voltaire on a line of jewellery entitled Metamorphosis.

Her boyfriend is the artist Jeremy Everett.

She’s been testimonial for the 2011 campaign of Hogan: The Tod’s Group brand has chosen the portrait photographer, blogger and illustrator The Selby to create a digital project involving 17 artists, one of them was Gaia.
